87/365 The Shoes

March2

Being a 2nd baby, Cyprus hasn’t really gotten many things new. I had saved a good deal from when Daphne was younger, so I had everything that I needed. The one thing that I did buy when I was pregnant was a pair of newborn leather shoes for the baby.

There is a company in Portland who hand makes these shoes, and they have some really nice ones. They are also more affordable than some of the other shoes available.

Cyprus has worn these shoes almost every day for the past 8 months. Jared pointed out to me recently that they were getting small on him and that they needed to be replaced, I guess he was right. The shoes did not fit well over the new knitted socks I had made, and they were definitely getting a little tight. This weekend when I was organizing baby things, I decided it was time to say goodbye to the shoes and put them in storage.

It is bittersweet. On one hand, I am happy my baby is growing up, but on the other, I have loved the time his tiny little feet fit in these shoes. I suppose it will be a joy to pull them out and think about how tiny his feet are when I am getting ready to have another baby in the distant future.

Bye for now tiny shoes.
