126. Miss Daphne Takes a Long Walk

April22

As the weather gets more and more nice this year, I have had an urge to get out and go for walks. I’m not talking about pansy, short walks, we are talking about long walks, and I bring both kids with me.

Last weekend I walked a 5K, and in preparation of an upcoming 8K, I got out with the kids to take a nice walk in the warm, spring sun.

I drove outside of Carlton on a nice little dirt road and parked my car off the side of the road. I then proceeded to walk with the kids. We made a pit stop at a friend’s house for lunch. Julie walked with me there, but after lunch decided that she didn’t want to walk anymore so I took Rebecca with me on a walk back to my car.

When all was said and done, we walked 6.5 miles through the wonderful back roads of Yamhill County. Daphne walked about 60% of it, and as the day was drawing to a close, she asked to be carried, so I carried Cyprus and her the last 2 miles! It was the perfect walk, and I truly wouldn’t have rather done anything else that day for entertainment.
