Cyprus 1 Day Old

July16

I took a few photos of Cyprus for the birth announcment when he was 1 day old.  You have seen the ones that I chose for the announcment already, but I thought you might enjoy a sneak peek at a few more.

Daphne’s Photography Skills

July16

Daphne has accompanied me to quite a few photo shoots recently, and she has started to expressed a desire to start taking photos of her own.

She got her hands on my little Digital Elph camera and took quite a few interesting shots.  I thought I would share some with you!

Ok, perhaps she needs some photography lessons, but it cracks me up that she likes it so much!

Edwards Family

June12

I did a photo shoot recently of a beautiful local family.  I set the images aside for a while before I edited them, and I must say that when I sat down to edit a few of them, I was giddy with excitement.  Quite a few of them came out looking really well.

I consider that I am on maternity leave right now for most photo projects, but I still love shooting, and I must say that even though I am VERY pregnant, I’ve still got it.

There is nothing like the love of a sister right?

Every family needs a ballerina.

What I wouldn’t give to be 7 again.

I love this relaxed portrait of a daddy with his girls.

And this is what daddies are for right?

Yeah, I was totally in wedding photographer mode!

Kissing the new baby. Yummy light!

I’m showing you the more artistic and less documentary photos.  There were other good shots at this location, but I think this photo tells so much about this family.

There were so many good shots from this family shoot.  I thought the ones here were the most original and creative of the bunch.  I am loving the yummy black and white processing I’ve been doing lately, so that is why you get the pleasure of feasting your eyes on so many of them now.  This is such a special family to me, and I am so glad that they opened their lives to me to let document their lives.

I am opening up my schedule to shoot more maternity, family, infant and children sessions over the next couple of months.  Contact me if you want to book a session.  We always have a lot of fun and bring out a lot of personality.

Tulips Everywhere

May13

Since spring is here (or is at least supposed to be here), it is time to see the flowers in bloom. The Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival occurs every year at this time of year, and I decided that it was time to take Daphne there to get a good look at some tulips and to take some lovely photos.

The tulips were just lovely. They had over 40 acres of tulips of all different kinds planted, so it was nothing but a sea of color. Daphne and I spent over 2 hours walking around the flowers admiring them. She was very sweet and gentle, and left all but one alone. The casualty was picked on accident, and she took it everywhere with her. She even brought it home and gave it to her daddy as a surprise. I did take some photos of the fields, but I’d rather post photos of Daphne. Look at all the lovely color behind her to get an idea of just how many flowers there were.

Kissing the flowers was something Daphne really loved to do.

Sitting among the flowers was also acceptable.

What is better than running among the flowers?

I love the color in this photo.

My sweet little princess.

Why would I ever process these in black and white?  Look at the killer tones.

Wonderful Maternity Session

May12

I haven’t written about it yet, but I decided recently that I am going to move all my blogging efforts to this blog and share all of my talents with you. My life is a whirlwind of mostly home economics activities interspersed with taking care of a baby, being a farm girl and a photographer. I used to have 4 separate blogs devoted to sharing the different aspects of my life with those interested, and I decided that that is ridiculous. Those that read will be reading about me and my family and how we live it. Why Oregon Natural Foods? Jared and I have long held the idea that food is the center culture of a family. This was especially real to me when I was in Europe. Food is loved and savored and eaten with joy and appreciation. The American viewpoint is more focused on large portions delivered quickly. No matter what else I do in a day, our family sits down 2-3 times together to enjoy the food that was prepared, for better or for worse. So food holds us together.

I am taking the year off photographically except for a few special projects that I’ve thought up and that I’ve been asked to do. I did decide to try to take some nice maternity photos for a friend so that she could remember her pregnancy and so that I could stay in practice. We did it just in time too because she ended up having the baby just a few days later.

I did have some help with the shoot from Daphne, and she definitely wanted to be in some of the photos herself.

I thought that this was an incredibly sweet photo of Daphne.
